Ways to Add Curb Appeal

by Gregg Clymer

The front of a home creates the first impression for any visitor, or potential buyer. It’s important that the outside be well presented and taken care of. Read below to find a few small changes to add curb appeal to your home.

  1. Make the Entryway Special: The front door and porch area will most likely be seen up close, so make it a beautiful space! Adding potted plants, a welcome mat, a wreath, or even painting your front door spruces up the entrance of a home.
  2. Turn on Outside Lights: It’s as simple as flipping a switch, but it will make a big difference! By having your outdoor lights on, you create a welcoming environment. More practically, outdoor lights are also a guide and ensure the space is able to be seen.
  3. Clean all your Windows: This step is easy to forget or skip over. However, after the windows are clean you’ll see how necessary it is. A clear window makes your home sparkle from the outside and creates a better view on the inside. In addition, cleaning your windows semi-regularly keeps the glass strong and helps them to last longer.
  4. Replace Street Numbers: If you’re on a budget and aren’t looking to spend the big bucks, this idea is perfect for you! Replacement street numbers are inexpensive, but changing out the old ones from the lamppost or door can still give your home a new look.
  5. Landscape and yard care: First, make sure your grass isn’t out of control. If you have time after that, try adding some flowers, small bushes, or mulch in the flower beds.
